Tell me, where did our time go?
It seems like yesterday, we were all together
Laughing, joking, making plans, so many plans.
We were strong weren’t we?
United, we were there for each other through the anger,
The bitterness, the joy, the pain.

But that was yesterday, a million years ago.
It is different now, the world has changed,
But I am the same quiet, shy girl I was then,
Hiding in the corner, invisible,
Always by your side.

I sit alone, wondering where you are now,
Wondering if you are different,
Whether you touched your dreams or whether they
Shattered around you like a broken glass.

Do you still think about me?
Do you still remember me, the silent presence standing in the
Back of your mind.
Or am I just some distant memory,
A scribbled goodbye note in your leavers’ book?
Or are you lost like me?

We are older now.
Time flies like a butterfly, graceful and delicate,
And life is a river flowing out to sea,
Like drift wood we floated apart,
Now I can’t touch you, you are so far away,
So far, far, far away.

Moments flicker like flame and die,
Forever trapped in the past,
And all those memories we share, the fun, the laughter
Are fragile like moth wings.
They are vivid and golden tainted with the blood
Of adolescent angst.
The scars of departure have healed but will never fade.
Is it the same for you?

Time moves on, pushing us forward, forward, forward;
And forcing us to leave the past behind like a forgotten child
And the future is a path bathed in darkness,
A shrouded enigma.

I shall remember you as you are;
And you shall stay forever in my past
Where it is always summer.

So this is another poem I wrote on Sunday night when I couldn't sleep. I can't sleep at the moment either, which is why I am uploading poems at one in the morning. I will try to get some sleep in a minute...
...Anyway, this poem is about some friends that I haven't seen in ages. They've been cropping up in my dreams a lot recently, I wonder what that means...

Uploading at one in the morning? Oh the joys of an internet connection on your laptop. (Would comment on poem, but would just be repeating myself from previous comments, since my poetry comments suck)

you know 'forgotten' now. The end was well put, the the questions before distracted me about how this would end and it ended on remembering the best of times. bravo.

change is the only constant
:iconheroisagirl:
Thanks. I wanted it to end on a positive note.

i connect with this. sort of brings up sad feelings of friends i've drifted away from, and people i loved who've moved away. very beautifully written.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not a comment signature.

Thanks, I been thinking of my old school friends a lot recently.
